Blacks and greys and less of colour.
Black magic!

Candice Pinto (TOI photo)Day 5 of the Gitanjali-sponsored Lakme Fashion Week truly lived upto its seasonal theme Fall/Winter, with the three collections leaning more towards dull greys and blacks and long flowing dresses and tunics, rather than a splash of colour.
But the overall feel was chic.
Aneedh Arora and Chinar Farooquis label Gaba was all about easy dressing.

Inspired by local dressing, the designer duo used fabrics such as Maheshwari and Chanderi silk in just three colours black, white and grey. Their collection was essentially long, easy flowing tunics coupled with capris made from sheer fabric. A very chic, street-like look. What was interesting was that the designers left it to the models to wear the tunic-capri combination the way they wanted to, leaving plenty to the imagination with lots of space for interesting experimentation. Crochet ballerina shoes completed the look. Another interesting twist to the tale as their
dhoti capris, with an ethnic mix of texture. We like!
Chennai-based Vivek Karunakarans label Viia was an Autumn/ Winter collection to the hilt. It had a darker look, with plenty use of black, dark tights and again, easy flowing, yet chic dresses. Adding to the Fall/Winter look were boots and thick, woollen socks. What stood out here were the crop jackets with Chinese collars that were worn on the dresses, which were sheer with sequin linings. Just a hint of shimmer, very elegant, very classy.
Aashta Bahls line had two distinct trends. One comprised quilted jackets, pleats, layered bubble dresses and flowing dresses with plenty of flounce. The second look was more structured, although loosely, with contrasting piping, panels and seam-like quilting. Shiny bags, big black bangles and ruffled scarves worn around the neck accessorised the look. Tiny pinch ruffles adorned the clothes; that was worth an applause too. The finale dress comprised a floor-length cape-like jacket, open in the front. Very, very attractive. The only let down here was the use of multicoloured sequined belts, that was a bit much.
